About Caribbean Electives Abroad (CEA)

Caribbean Electives Abroad (CEA), was founded in 2018 by like-minded individuals from leading local tourism companies who happen to have the best medical background in SVG and doctors who were former elective students in the country.

Mission Statement

To provide the best, most memorable and rewarding bespoke elective experience possible whilst making a genuine impact on the development of Caribbean healthcare.

Khari Dougan

Director Khari Dougan met the Founder of MEA – Dr. Stephanie Clark – when she was on her own elective in St. Vincent and the Grenadines several years ago. In 2019, Dr Clark and Khari both came to the realisation of a need for a multi facilitated ,progressive elective program in St Vincent and the Grenadines; which led to the creation of Medical Electives Abroad in SVG now known as Caribbean Electives Abroad. Khari’s background in Investment Banking Business Development and time living and working in New York, Europe and Asia added a unique perspective to the development of the program. His passion for connecting outsiders to SVG in a way that will add value to the local community whilst giving the traveller an unparalleled rewarding experience of SVG has been a core component of the evolution of our elective program. Khari provides an international perspective with local insight few can offer in SVG. Overcoming these challenges is the true definition of Caribbean strength, and by choosing CEA as your elective experience, you will observe this first-hand.

Dr Tom Boulter

Back in 2014, whilst touring with elective students, Khari met Dr Tom Boulter: a UK doctor-to-be studying at the University of Manchester. Rather than choosing a vetted elective programme, Tom went about the process independently. This posed great difficulties in contacting the hospital, researching immigration protocols, finding suitable accommodation and learning his way around a foreign country. After becoming acquainted with Khari, settling in and making lifelong friends, Tom found the experience to be incredibly rewarding and memorable. 8 years later, and now a licensed General Practitioner, Dr Boutler is a core CEA Partner and his first-hand experience makes him a crucial member of our team. To a large extent, it was this experience that led to the founding of CEA. He identified the problems and figured out how things could be improved. That’s why we say our programme is designed by doctors with your elective in mind.
